The iPad Mini 3 is the third iteration of Apple's iPad Mini series, the little brother to the iPad. Released on October 22, 2014 the Mini is popular with those that need something bigger than a phone to work on but don’t want a device as hefty as a regular sized tablet. The tablet received praise at the time of release for being up to the gold standard set by Apple with its tablets, but also critique, as it didn't add many features not already included in the iPad Mini 2.
The differences between the iPad Mini 2 and the iPad Mini 3 are most noticeable in the Touch ID feature, now standard in Apple devices. There is also the availability of a 128GB storage device. Previously, on the Mini 2, the maximum space was just 64GB. You've got the extra choice of the Gold model too. Read more about the iPad Mini 3.
The Mini 3 is for everyone. They are especially handy for small children that are dwarfed by the iPad - they can hold and carry this device easily. If you'd like to do on the go business and your phone screen isn't big enough for what you want then this is also a handy item. The iPad Mini is also the perfect size to roll out in the workplace, with company apps, news and content available direct to employees.
The iPad Mini is used across a range of services by American airline carrier, JetBlue. The Mini 3 is used as a POS system for cabin crew (equipped with Apple Pay) and for viewing flight documents, as well as a training tool for aircraft mechanics, to help them do their jobs better.
Another company where the iPad Mini 3 is hard at work is the Mayo Clinic, a large medical centre you may already be familiar with. The clinic has custom apps built for use inside the centre for physicians and other staff. The Apple iPad Mini 3's small size means it is perfect for slipping in to the doctors' pocket and carrying around. Doctors can instantly access patients' medical records and show them items like charts, reports and scans, all without needing access to a computer. Using the iPad Minis and other iOS devices has increased efficiency and speed, allowing doctors more time to view more patients.
The iPad Mini 3 can be supplemented by a range of very useful accessories. As with any smart device, the battery won't last forever, so to ensure you never run out of juice you can pick up a range of AC mains adapters, travel chargers, car chargers and powerbanks. For a faster charge select a charger with higher amps. To protect your iPad Mini 3 select a case from a quality producer such as a Griffin, Otterbox or Lifeproof. Add a screen guard to protect your tablet if the case doesn't have one in built. To get more use out of your Mini 3 think about getting a stylus pen and a Bluetooth keyboard to get more done away from your laptop. For the music lovers out there, you can add Bluetooth speakers to make the most of your iTunes library.
Although tablet sales worldwide were falling - due to a longer refresh cycle than companies anticipated - sales of Apple's tablets still generated $8.9 billion in revenue in Q1 of 2015. Not bad for a flat lining market!. On September 9, 2015, the iPad Mini 3 was discontinued and replaced by the iPad Mini 4.
