Telstra 4GX Smart Review

Telstra's range of Telstra branded mobile phones extends from basic, entry level models, through to top of the line smartphones, so there really is something available for everyone. Often priced very reasonably, this Telstra range is gathered from a number of mobile phone manufacturer's, hand picked by Telstra for their features, and rebranded with Telstra's labelling.

The Telstra 4GX Smart is one of these such phones. The 4GX Smart is a rebranded ZTE model, that's designed as an entry level mobile phone. The phone is available on Telstra as a prepaid phone and costs just $69 when purchased through the Telstra website. (Pirce correct at the time of writing)

Because of its low price point and capabilities, it makes a great handset either for older people, who may have a simple older mobile phone that needs upgrading, or as a first mobile phone for kids or teenagers. It's also a great choice for those that are on a budget or travellers.

4GX Support

The main drawcard of the Telstra 4GX Smart is, of course, its 4GX network capabilities. This means that the phone can access the fastest networks on the Telstra backbone, which makes data activities on the phone that much faster.

4G is what many of us are familiar with - the technology that allows us faster data access than the old 3G network. The 4GX network is Telstra's fastest capability, a step up from just 4G. It allows you (in theory) to access data twice as fast as the 4G network on a mobile phone that's capable of using the technology.

Other Features

Because the phone is an entry level phone, it isn't stacked with fancy features, that's how Telstra can afford to keep the price down. That being said, the phone does come with a 4 inch screen, which, although not as big as say, the iPhone, has more than enough real estate for scrolling the news and such. It has a quad core 1.0GHz CPU that has 1GBof RAM and 8GB of ROM storage. You can expand the phone's memory with the 32GB micro SD slot, however the phone does not come with a micro SD card, this will need to be purchased separately.

It comes standard with everything that you'd expect from a smartphone, including a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera.

A rule of thumb is the more milliamp hours (mAh) a powerbank has, the more charge it is capable of storing. Make sure to charge up your powerbank though, they are no use to you out and about when they are empty!
